If you don’t mind tacky Asian decors, the Holiday Inn Select may just as well be for you as it offers very attractive rates for a 4-star hotel located right in the middle of downtown.
Asia for cheap in the heart of Montreal
What would you say about staying in a Montreal hotel whose decoration would take you to Pekin or Shanghai? Located at the edges of Chinatown, the Downtown Montreal Holiday Inn Select is more reminiscent of far East Asia than the province of Quebec. The architecture of the building is based on Feng Shui principles. While the decor is certainly unique (you’ll find yourself a little out of place in the lobby with it’s buddhist temple, fish pond and the water fountain) you’ll have to admit that this scenery is a bit dated and that the hotel would benefit from a good facelift.
The 235 rooms are decorated with Chinese prints and have free wifi. You’ll have at your disposal newspapers, phones, coffee machine, HD TV, and windows that you can open. Most rooms feature a great view of either the Old Montreal or downtown. The Holiday Inn Select is a good deal if you compare its rates (starting at $125 per night) to other 4-star hotels downtown. However, you’ll have to turn a blind eye on a few details (cleanliness, carpets from another century, overly dimmed lighting…).
The hotel also boasts a pool, a Chinese cuisine restaurant (Chez Chine) and a bar (Lotus Bleu).
Right in between the Old Montreal and Chinatown
The Downtown Montreal Holiday Inn Select is located right in the booming heart Montreal. Close to the Convention Center, ideally located at the edges of the Old Montreal and Chinatown, and a few blocks away from the financial district, downtown, and the Quartier des spectacles. The Holiday Inn is right by the metro station Place d’Armes (line 2 – Orange).
